Learning Fry Sight Words!
Learning sight words is an important part of learning to read fluently and accurately. That’s why I love creating and designing resources that are fun, engaging, useful and above all help students master the sight words provided.
This resource focuses on the ‘first 100 Fry Words’. Your kiddos will focus on the following words;
the, of, and, a, to, in, is, you, that, it, he, was, for, on, are, as, with, his, they, I, at, be, this, have, from, or, one, had, by, words, but, not, what, all, were, we, when, your, can, said, there, use, an, each, which, she, do, how, their, if, will, up, other, about, out, many, then, them, these, so, some, her, would, make, like, him, into, time, has, look, two, more, write, go, see, part, may, made, come, get, did, day, down, long, find, now, sit, oil, who, called, been, water, first, than, my, people, could, way, no, number.
You will receive 2 PDF files. One file contains the color pages and the other file contains the Color, Trace and Write.
Please note: Watermarks/blurred images will not be in your downloaded file! All files are in PDF. This resource will download as a zip folder.
This verb game has been created to help with the understanding of what a verb is. This is an ideal, fun and interactive way to learn or reinforce. This verb game can be played as pairs, in small groups or by splitting your class into equal groups.
How to play this verb game?
Students can play this in pair, in small groups or as a whole class activity.
Using your group cards, write your names on the group you are in.
You have two minutes to complete each round.
Each group takes it in turns in picking a place card. Your teacher will instruct you on which group and who is picking the card.
The group with the most points at the end wins. Your teacher will decide how many rounds you are playing.
When a Place card is picked up – Each group must write down as many verbs as possible in the 2 minute time allowed.
After the two minutes is up each group checks with their group members to make sure there is no repeated verbs. No matching words are allowed.
The group with the most verbs wins a point. The group with the most points at the end of all rounds wins.
Teachers Notes
You will need to print the place cards – to save on paper you can print back to back.
To make the game a little more visually appealing you can print the cards with the name ‘place card’ on them on color card/paper.
I recommend printing on card and laminating as this will ensure longer usage of the activity.
There are 4 group cards with lines for students to write their names. There is room for 8 names on each group card. I recommend these are printed on card and laminated. Your students can then use dry erasers to write the names.
I recommend using a two minute timer for this game. I have found this to be the more realistic time frame and gives enough time for the competition feel. You can expand or decrease this time.
I have found that selecting the students your self causes less arguments on whose going first. However, feel free to use a method that works best with your kiddos.
Please note: Watermarks/blurred images will not be in your downloaded file! All files are PDF unless stated otherwise.

There are 3 acrostic poem templates included in this resource. the running theme across all three templates is ‘Love’.
An acrostic poem is when the first letter of each line spells a word. For example;
L is for Love
O is for Optimism
V is for Value
E is for Eternity
What’s included;
3 acrostic poem templates. Each sheet has a different word spelled vertically down the sheet.
Sheet 1 spells - Love
Sheet 2 spells - True Love
Sheet 3 spells - Valentine
Acrostic poems are a good way to encourage your kiddos creativity, use a dictionary or a thesaurus. These also look great once completed and pinned on a display board.
